The Leicester City Stop Smoking Service has been working with all 23 Leicester city Sure Start Centres to deliver the ‘Step Right Out’ Campaign.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of second hand smoke and to encourage people to sign up to a ‘Step Right Out’ pledge to keep their home and car smokefree for the benefit of their families health.
In 2013, the Sure Start centres collectively signed up an amazing 1,282 of their service users to taking the Step Right Out pledge, and 331 of these service users were also referred to the Stop Smoking Service for support to stop smoking. This brings the total Step right out pledges for Leicester City to over 6,000.
Woodbridge Children’s Centre has consistently promoted this message with their families and managed to achieve an amazing 225 pledges last year, which makes them the Step Right Out Partnership champions for 2013.
They were presented with their Partnership Champion trophy at the end of May by Tina Adams the Specialist Advisor for Smoking in Pregnancy.
