Boxer Rendall Supporting Balls to Stop

Leicester boxer Rendall Munroe is one of several high-profile sports names backing our brand-new ‘Balls to Stop’ campaign.

Attending the launch of ‘Balls to Stop’ at the home of his beloved Leicester City Football Club, Rendall – a former EBU and Commonwealth Super Bantamweight champion – explained why he moved quickly to support Balls to Stop.

“I think it’s a good campaign,” said Rendall.

“As a role model for the youth of today (it’s important), because smoking starts at a young age. It’s good to be able to go out there and show them that smoking isn’t a good thing.”

“I’ve never been a smoker myself, so I don’t really know about it, but my mum and a few friends always say that it’s so hard to stop. Listening to the (Stop Smoking Service) advisors, who talked about the effects of smoking and how to get off it properly, has been amazing.”

Rendall emphasised the level of help and support that is available through the Leicester Stop Smoking Service –and his message is clear to anybody thinking about stopping smoking.

“If you want to make the change, get out there and meet these people. They will help you out and get you stopped. Just think about the money you’re saving and the number of years you can add to your life – it’s a good thing.”
